چکیده

We demonstrate that purine restriction is associated with a decreased excretion of a number of uv-absorbing compounds-including uric acid, hypoxanthine, xanthine, adenine, pseudouridine, and 5-acetylamino-6-amino-3methyluracil-indicating that these compounds originate, at least partly, exogenously. Administration of allopurinol and oxipurinol is associated with a decreased excretion of uric acid and an increased excretion of hypoxanthine and xanthine, as well as the excretion of the previously identified products of allopurinol and oxipurinol metabolism. Moreover, these drugs further decrease excretion of 5-acetylamino-6-amino-3-methyluracil, increase uracil excretion slightly, and strikingly increase orotic acid and orotidine excretion. No change in pseudouridine excretion was observed. The ultraviolet-analyzer is a valuable tool for detecting qualitative changes in the excretion of ultraviolet-absorbing compounds in the urine; with it, identified peaks can be semiquantitated.

The aim of present experiment was to measure endogenous urinary purine derivatives using feed restriction method, as well as to determine the effect of 4 levels feeding on microbial protein synthesis. The present experiments was conducted by four camels about 326 Kg body weight.  The camels were fed by different level of Atriplex leucoclada (AL), including maintenance, 1.25, 1.5 times of mainte...

Urinary purines in leukemia.

Urinary purine excretion has been determined for four normal subjects, for thirteen patients with different types of acute and chronic leukemia, and for one man with mycosis fungoides by means of paper chromatography. Differentiation between types of leukemia, based on punine excretion, was not conclusive. Increases in 1-methylhypoxanthine and 8-hydroxy-7-methylguanine in nearly all patients, a...

Xanthine oxidase deficiency: studies of a previously unreported case.

Xanthinuria is a familial disorder of purine metabolism that results from a marked deficiency of xanthine oxidase (EC 1.2.3.2) activity. We report here the clinical and biochemical features of a new case of xanthinuria. Serum urate concentration was 0.8 mg/i 00 ml, urinary uric acid excretion was 16 mg per day, urinary oxypurme excretion was 1630 mol per day, and total purine excretion was 314 ...

Effect of Dietary Crude Protein Level on UT-B Expression and Nitrogen Efficiency in Growing Baluchi Male Lambs Fed Low or High Concentrate Diets

An experiment was carried out to evaluate how interactions between forage to concentrate ratio and dietary crude protein level may alter nitrogen efficiency and UT-B expression in growing Baluchi male lambs. Four Baluchi male lambs [30 ± 2 kg BW] were used in a 4 × 4 latin square design with 28-d periods and a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of dietary treatments. The treatments fed forage: concent...

1. The metabolism of allopurinol was studied in a newly discovered patient with xanthinuria. 2. No oxipurinol was detectable in the urine during allopurinol administration, in direct contrast to the results in a patient previously studied by one of us. 3. Other equally discrepant effects of allopurinol on urinary purine and pyrimidine excretion in these two cases are compared with those in the ...
